Quest for Fame was bred by Randy and Penny Frederiksen of Ambrican Bassets, and is shown above with owner Claudia Orlandi. Topsfield owes a sincere debt of gratitude to Penny and Randy who were mentors early on.
Several Ambrican Bassets figure strongly in Topsfield bloodlines. A/C Ch Ambrican Lipizzan, in particular, has made a valuable contribution to the Topsfield breeding program and is behind important hounds, including CH Topsfield Jingle Bells, ROM (sire) and CH Topsfield Bumper Cars, CD, ROM (grandsire).
In a sport where honesty and generosity are often at a premium, Penny and Randy have remained role models as well as long time friends and mentors.
Hodie was a Group Placing Hound and Award of Merit Winner at the 1993 BHCA National Specialty and brought to our breeding program his overall balance & wonderful temperament.
Topsfield is indebted to Pat and Ted Ellis of Bone-A-Part Bassets, who were the home of many champions over the past couple of decades. Hodie was bred by the Ellis’s and Kelly McCoy-Davis (Longhorn Bassets) and was the foundation sire of the Topsfield show hounds. We are grateful to the Ellis’s early influence.
Hodie, with his friend and
owner, Claudia Orlandi
