Sluggo is pictured above going Specialty Best In Show under Judge Kent Delaney. He was exclusively handled in 2007 by Sue Frischmann, Topsfield’s resident handler.
Sluggo is a well balanced, athletic hound whose movement is exceptional, demonstrating correct Basset Hound reach and drive. He has the smooth shoulder assembly and correct front and rear angulation. He has beautiful breed type, and a wonderful, kind temperament. His masculine head shows remarkable depth of muzzle, with a correct set on of ear.

Sluggo was owned by Dr. Claudia Orlandi in 2007. He was bred by longtime friends and respected breeders, Ed and Mary Smizer. Our thanks to Ed and Mary, and his owners Jack and Gwen McCullagh for entrusting us with this outstanding hound. Sluggo has returned to his breeders and lived a wonderful retired life.
Sluggo is the son of CH Maredge Mairzy Doats and out of CH Maredge Tarheel.

In addition to his Westminster breed win, Sluggo’s First Place win in the very competitive Stud Dog Class at the 2007 BHCA National Specialty was extremely meaningful to his breeders and owners. A very special thank you to his breeders and owners for the privilege of having had Sluggo at Topsfield. He remains a very special dog in our hearts.
